Happy Hooker?

Posted on by handmadebycasey

Isn't that the name of that book from the same people who brought us Stitch n Bitch? I taught myself the crocheting basics over the years and have made my share of scarves and afghans. A few months back I signed up to take a class at Purl in SoHo to learn how to make a granny square afghan featured on their blog Purlbee.

I was the only one in the class who did not also have knitting knowledge which isn't really needed to crochet. The teacher compared/contrasted knitting vs crochet, which was helpful to those that knew knitting. I found the two-session class to be extremely worthwhile. Having someone show you exactly where to put your hook made a huge difference!

I had a great time choosing my color palette for my own granny square afghan. I wish Purl had offered a discount of somekind on their yarn since I was enrolled in a class they offered, but alas I went ahead and paid full price on the many skeins of yarn I purchased for my project. I went with shades of grey, blue and teal.

It's still a work in progress. See?
